After much hesitation, I've decided to finally update my computer. A little background information...
I built my own computer before I came to school my freshman year. In my sophmore year I upgraded the motherboard and the CPU because of a faulty Motherboard. That was about 2 years ago. My computer is still as powerful as Alienware's $1200 model they offer out there. So, what did I upgrade?
Well, my AMD Athlon 1800+ XP with 512MB DDR333 goes to...AMD Athlon 2800+ with ~1500mb of Ram...
And drumroll...with a new 17in LCD screen from Viewsonic. I wasn't giong to get VIewsonic originally, but my 19in CRT that I got from them worked for a LONG time. I was happy to find out that their 17in model had good reviews as well and now I can stop dealing with my flickering model that SOMETIMES comes on with only half the screen displayed. YARGH. Oh, and I've got a new DVD player to replace the one that kinda just konked out on me.
SO, that ended the debate between a relatively costly upgrade and my (drool) $3000 Alienware Laptop. Oh man I wanted that thing but I think for now this will be fine. Maybe I'll buy my dream laptop with Graduation money (probably not). For now I just want to be able to not bleed from the eye sockets and maybe be able to play some Stronghold 2.
AMD Athlon rocks. Crossing my fingers for my new monitor.
That's it for now players...except for a little surprise news that i'm sure no one would guess...
Heh.
Out.

Uh...
I've got a Soyo KT333 Dragon Plus! It's been discontinued because Soyo has moved mainly to Athlon 64 based boards. It's a solid board but so are boards from Leadtek or ASUS.August 27 2005, 08:18:15 UTC 6 years ago

No need
No need for the money; just tell me when you are available and I'll pop on over to take a look at your computer.August 27 2005, 13:11:47 UTC 6 years ago
